Join us for a three day, raft supported, whitewater kayaking camp and gain the practical experience you need to become a more refined paddler. Great for those who have completed our summer progression!
Ready to become a well refined paddler but having difficulty acquiring the experience? Becoming a developed whitewater kayaker can be hard as it requires experienced partners, specialized equipment, and lots of time and practice. We can offer you all of these things and more on our three day, raft supported, Lower Deschutes whitewater camp.
We created this camp for the “intermediate” paddler who has already obtained basic whitewater knowledge and a roll. Its a great season ender for paddlers who have completed our summer progression that want more practical experience. As such, instruction will be individually based and sprinkled in when teachable moments arise. The majority of the camp will be spent actively paddling/river running and in camp when it's time to relax.
Summer Progression:
- Full Immersion Whitewater Kayaking Weekend
- Intermediate Whitewater Weekend
- Roll and practice sessions
The camp includes light instruction, paddling equipment (if needed), and all meals. Our talented instructors are not only great paddlers but good cooks too. During this trip we will take care of you on and off the water.

+ OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
Although this course is intended for paddlers seeking refinement and practical experience, we aim to share the river life with everyone! Non paddling family members or friends are welcome on this outing too. If you have someone you want to share the experience with, let us know. Multi day raft trips our one of our favorite activities and trust me, even if you're not receiving instruction, there is still plenty of entertainment and a seat on the raft.
+ FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Can I bring my own gear?
If you have your own gear and or boat you are more than welcome to bring your gear to the classes. It is always good to practice in the same equipment you will use after the class.
Can kids come to these lessons?
We have a strict age requirement of 15 for standard lessons. If you have a child younger than 15 please check out our offerings for Tumalo Kids or email [email protected] to get information on private classes.
Do I have to get on the water?
If you are taking a class we do require you to come out on the water and practice the techniques we are covering. Though we start on land most of our instruction is on the water so students can try the new skill in real time.
Do I have to participate in the self rescue?
It is entirely optional but highly recommended that you try your hand at a self rescue during class. Practice makes perfect and what better way to practice than by having a certified instructor right there with you.
Will I fall in?
It is entirely possible that you will fall in the water. We will always suit you up with all of the necessary safety gear for the discipline you are participating in, and our certified instructors are well versed in water rescues. But still, be prepared to swim.
