Have you always dreamed of learning to sail? Imagine gliding through the refreshing waters of an alpine lake with only the wind propelling you forward, and Mt. Bachelor or South Sister framed perfectly in the distance. Learn to sail this summer with Tumalo Creek Kayak & Canoe on Elk Lake, one of Central Oregon’s most picturesque bodies of water.
Tumalo Creek has a fleet of both tandem and solo Hobie Adventure Island Sailing Kayaks. These are simple, stable single-sail vessels with floating amas (outriggers) on either side. This means there is practically zero chance of flipping, and beginners can enjoy the freedom of sailing with just a few minutes of instruction.
Hobie Sailing Sunday Class starts at 2 p.m. and meets at Elk Lake’s Little Fawn Boat Ramp.
We do not take online reservations within 24 hours of the class. Please call the shop, as there are often spaces open last minute: 541-317-9407. We require a minimum class size, so periodically we need to reschedule due to low enrollment.
Those who have had some sailing experience might want to set out on their own. We rent our Hobie Adventure Islands and Hobie Tandem Islands for $150 and $175 a day respectively. If you are considering purchasing one of these boats, definitely come check out show room at 805 SW Industrial Way, Suite 6 in Bend Oregon.
