Whether it is your first time in a white­wa­ter kayak, or you need a thor­ough refresher after years out of your boat, Tumalo Creek’s Brace & Roll Classes on-site in our solar heated pool are a great place to start.

Tumalo Creek guides are American Canoe Association (ACA) certified and have been guiding on the Deschutes and other rivers for decades.

Note: Please call the shop directly for reservations occurring 24 hours or less from class start date, 541.317.9407. Minimum enrollment needs can periodically result in course rescheduling.

What: The Brace & Roll at Tumalo Creek (summer) Class is a two hour session in our solar heated pool to learn and practice hip snaps, bracing, and t-rescues. Plenty of one-on-one instruction with each paddler will be given to introduce and refine the roll, first with a torso supported roll, then a paddle supported roll, and finally a solo roll, all with an instructor close by.

Cost: $25 for a two hour session

Dates: Every other Thursday throughout the summer, 6-8pm

Tumalo Creek provides:

Participant provides (dress to get wet):

  • Swim suit/shorts
  • Synthetic top or
  • Rash guard
  • Dry towel
  • Change of cloths
