Here in Central Oregon, kayaking isn’t just a hobby, it’s a way of life. That’s because the locals know what every visitor could probably guess: some of the very best scenery in the Cascades is only accessed by boat.
Whether you live here, or are visiting for the first time, don’t let another summer slip by without trying your hand at the incredibly fun sport of flatwater kayaking.
Join us in our beautiful outdoor classroom as we introduce and practice the skills every new paddler needs to explore these beautiful waterways. We’ll begin with a relaxing introduction to kayaking where you will learn about boat dynamics and appropriate gear. Then we’ll dive into basic skills such as the forward stroke, sweep stroke, and ferrying.
This class is geared towards adults therefore we require a minimum age of 14. Please call the shop with any questions.
We do not take online reservations within 24 hours of the class. Please call the shop, as there are often spaces open last minute: 541-317-9407.
Boaters with a few years of experience might be more interested in our Intermediate Skills Kayaking Class which takes place up at Elk Lake once a month throughout the summer. This day-long class will solidify such skills as solo and assisted re-entries, efficient paddle strokes and working with winds and current. Check out our trip to the San Juan Islands if you’d like to take your explorations to the next level!
