Float the River in Bend Oregon

Wednesday, July 6th, 2011

We can’t think of a better way to spend a sweltering afternoon than a relaxing float down the Deschutes River through the Old Mill District and down to Mirror Pond at Drake Park.

Tumalo Creek rents tubes for $10 for two hours and thanks to an efficient shuttle service run by Bend Area Transit, floaters can get a ride back up to the put-in at Farewell Bend Park for only $2.50. Other tour providers run a shuttle service on the days the BAT is not available, assuring that floaters can get a ride seven days a week, all summer long. This company charges $3.00. The shuttles generally run every half hour.

Float the river right from Tumalo Creek. Park your car in our lot, rent your tubes and then walk under and across the Colorado Bridge and put in at McKay Park. From there you will float down to Drake Park and meet the shuttle. You can then take the shuttle back to McKay and float that section again or ride all the way up to Riverbend Park and float back down to Tumalo Creek through the Old Mill District.

We rent comfortable, high-quality NRS tubes that have handles and netting underneath so you won’t fall through.

Tube rentals are rented on a first-come, first-serve basis so come down and visit us today to start your floating adventure. We are located at 805 SW Industrial Way, downriver from the Old Mill District, across from the Colorado Bridge. 541.317.9407.
