Help your kids learn a new skill while they explore the beautiful waterways of Central Oregon.

Do you have a child ages 8 – 16 that loves playing in the water? Start them whitewater kayaking or Stand Up Paddleboarding at a young age and they will have the skills they need to succeed at some of the most enjoyable watersports around.

Tumalo Creek is offering six four-day camps this summer, two weeks of SUP and four weeks of kayaking. Cost is $225.

Kids Yak – A – Tak (Whitewater Kayak camps):

July 23 – 26

Aug 6 – 10

Aug 20 – 23

Aug 27 – 30

Kids SUP – A – Tak (Stand Up Paddlingboarding camps):

July 16 – 19

July 13 – 16

The sessions run from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. every day except Thursday (8 a.m. – 6 p.m.) Kayakers will spend the first day at Elk Lake learning basic paddle strokes and playing kayaking games to improve skills. On the second day, students will learn rolling techniques and self-rescues in our heated pool behind the shop, and then move on to the Deschutes River to practice bracing. Kids will learn to control their boat in moving current and to ferry from one side of the river to another on Wednesday. Paddlers will spend their final day of camp out on the McKenzie River bringing all their skills together and enjoying one of the most beautiful stretches of river in Central Oregon.
